Turn, I agree with you about the french media. But the fact of the matter is: the kid has been the most impressive rookie out there. He doesn't play like a rookie; he plays like a vet. He hits like a ton of brick (I saw yesterday's replay and it didn't warrant a major misconduct. It was a manly hit to say the least). He has superb hands, one of the quickest release this team has seen in years. And he'll only get better in contact with the pros.
Plus, Koivu's remarks will make headlines today everywhere. Which means that Joe Fan will be saying: if Koivu thinks he's ready, why not Guy and Silent Bob (I love that nickname, don't you?)?
If he gets cut after another solid performance Thursday, I can just imagine the fan reaction at opening night. It won't be pretty.
If he performs okay on Thursday, he's got his 10 game stint assured. No doubt about it.
