. His problem is that he's going to monopolize Pacioretty's ice-time. His problem is that he's tiny and cannot step up his physical game at all.
It's just depressing to think about him actually - he's not a bad player, he just doesn't fit our needs or wants WHATSOEVER.
While I certainly agree with the underlined, he certainly fit our needs for depth.
I mean, should DD be used at LW (which could and should be a possibility at some point, depending on Galchenyuk's form next season), he can STILL be used at Center, should somebody go down. The next player on the "offense" depth chart is ... yeah, Bournival? Dumont? Not exactly viable options... or simply options. Not to mention that our wingers tends to be seriously pass *******, with the exception of Galchenyuk... Who might not have for long at wing.
Why were we successful this season? Offensive depth, as far as the lineup is concerned. With the lack of superstars, we need that offensive depth. Getting more size/grit at the expense of offensive depth isn't exactly the way to go.
