If you're going to do that to Horcoff just buy him out. Earlier you suggested signing Cullen for veteran leadership. Great! We're missing veteran leadership. But where does that leave your veteran captain? You don't make a mockery of the C because that hurts the organization's culture. God knows we already have a bad rep when it comes to management respecting players here, and as much as I want him to be bought out, Horcoff has a good reputation among NHL players. That's a move that would come back to bite us.
The last Oiler captain spent many a games on the 4th line. Ethan Moreau lived there half of his days since the end of the lockout. Culture smulture, Horcoff out of the picture is a good thing. He's one of many who always play in their cozy comfort zone. Horc doesn't care, if he did we'd see more of that 95-100% effort from him rather than the 90% and less effort we've seen these last 5 yrs. The guy's a gluteous maximus.
