Super off-topic but how coaches use their players is my biggest interest when it comes to strategy/system and why I got into underlying numbers and advanced statistics.

I'm interested to see how this will look next season, especially with the move out west.

2011-12 Noel split the matchups between top 2 pairs but ***** slapped Bogo and Hainsey into the D-zone as defensive specialists.

2012-13 Noel started doing the same thing with the pairs being Enstrom-Byfuglien + Stuart-Hainsey... but after Buff's injury Noel changed and gave the tough-matchups to one pair first being Enstrom-Hainsey, and then when Hainsey-Bogosian got back he used and abused the **** out of those two.

Interestingly with forwards he went through a similar patter but different pattern: last season splitting between LLW and GST while pushing GST into the D-zone, but then started this season splitting toughs between LLW and USSR but gave d-zone push to Slater's line although mostly against 3rd/4th liners... after the Poni trade Noel started to load up all the tough match-ups to LLW and started pushing them back after Slater's injury.

So, where these guys end up will depend on Noel's usage, and vice versa. My guess is you are right and will likely see Bogo and who ever he is with get used extremely tough minutes.

...sorry long rant... I just find this stuff really interesting... I would love an interview with Noel and get inside his head about these decisions.
