For the record. He's not a defensive specialist. He is a two way winger. He backchecks, forechecks and is basically very responsible defensively for a player his age. He also plays a role on a very defensive team that is not going to allow him to put up big points as easily as he might in other circumstances. He does have a fair bit of skill and in particular has an excellent shot. But what he is not is a purely offensive first top six or bust kind of player. He has worked hard to round out his game. He can be inconsistent at times in both end, but that's not so suprising for a guy chosen as late in the draft as he was.
No one is suggesting he is a lock to make it. I actually agree that he is a longshot. But this is true of pretty much everyone picked outside of the 1st round. My objection is that the only evidence you presented was that he was not a ppg forward as if this was somehow a measure of how successful a season Zharkov had.
