So I ask, what division would you rather be in? The Central is stacked now, but the future isn't so bright for
. How good will they be if the CBA truly institutes a 30 million dollar cap? Without that extra 30-50 million dollar cushion over the Preds, how much of an advantage would they have?
seems poorly managed but is the one true threat outside of Nashville to emerge as a contender on a short budget.
is just a travesty and while I cap would help them, nothing would help enough.
In the Southeast, the future is murky. You have 5 teams who have never amounted to anything save for 3 fluke cup runs. Yet all 5 have strong farms and good young talent. None have shown consistent success.
looks to have a great future, but they have to show an ability to consistently pull talent out of the draft when it's not so obvious (Coburn will be a great test of this).
will likely stay where they are because they've been there for 6 years.
is an enigma and I'll wait to see how the coach pans out before making any judgement.
has talent, but has been lackluster this year and, while good last year, has never really put together strings of great years. They've been more like a light switch (off and on). I'm leaving Washington off because that's a team we'd likely replace if we ever moved there.
Which conference would you want to be in for the future?
i think that you have to consider ownership\commital to win at "any cost," as much as you think about future talent. yes, a new CBA could level out the playing field, but i think that the detroits\st louises of the league are probably not going to be BAD teams for quite some time. they have ownership that won't let it happen, at this point. things are shakier in that regard in places like atlanta and florida. i've said all along that i think at some point the conferences will be re-aligned, and i'd like to see nashville moved to the southeast.
