One player who almost certainly won’t return to Montreal is right-winger Michael Ryder. He had 21 points in 27 games with the Canadiens and although Bergevin would probably like to keep him, he will be an unrestricted free agent. He is sure to be a very popular choice in the free-agent market and the Canadiens probably won’t be able to match other offers he receives.
Again, that's not true. The Canadiens
the cap space to grossly overpay Ryder if they wish and could, in all likelihood, match the offers he receives. Not being able to afford him =/= choosing not to pay him beyond a certain point.
Look, I used to have my own blog for a few years, and if it taught me anything it's that if your facts aren't 100% straight, your credibility is gone and very difficult to get back.
Just my own advice for this writer. Get it right or don't write it at all.
