My dream off-season would result in the following line up for next season:

FORWARDS
David Clarkson ($4.500m) / Ryan N.-Hopkins ($3.775m) / Jordan Eberle ($6.000m)
Taylor Hall ($6.000m) / Andy McDonald ($3.200m) / Nail Yakupov ($3.775m)
Teemu Hartikainen ($1.000m) / Sean Monahan ($1.600m) / Viktor Stalberg ($2.750m)
Ryan Smyth ($2.250m) / Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Ben Eager ($1.100m)
Mike Brown ($0.737m)

DEFENSEMEN
Karl Alzner ($5.500 m) / Justin Schultz ($3.775m)
Oscar Klefbom ($1.244m) / Johnny Boychuk ($3.367m)
Ladislav Smid ($3.500m) / Jeff Petry ($1.750m)
Corey Potter ($0.775 m)

GOALTENDERS
Devan Dubnyk ($3.500m)
Anton Khubodin ($1.400m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,248,000;
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,052,000

Transactions:
1) Trade Hemsky or 2nd round pick + 7th overall to Carolina for 5th overall, draft Barkov or Monahan - presumably Carolina wants to draft a d-man, if they don't want Hemmer trade him to someone for a second or a third I need to get rid of his salary for below.
2) Sign and trade Gagner at the draft to Dallas for 10th overall, draft Lazar
3) Threaten to offer sheet Alzner if Washington doesn't agree to Nick Schultz + 2014 1st + pick/prospect. They are up against the cap.
4) Sign and trade Paajarvi to the Bruins for Boychuk to help them out of cap trouble.
5) Trade a 3rd round pick/mid level prospect to Philly for Talbot to help them out of cap trouble.
6) Compliance buyout Horcoff
7) Compliance buyout Belanger
8) Sign Clarkson UFA 5 years @ $4.5m
9) Sign McDonald UFA 2 years @ $3.2m (expires when you have to re-up Yak, Lazar should be ready at this point)
10) Sign Stalberg UFA 4 years @ $2.75m
11) Sign Khubodin UFA 3 years @ $1.4 M
12) Sign Hartikainen RFA 2 years @ $1.00m

A 12 step program should be no problem for MacT

I'd also be hoping like hell that the cap goes up in this scenario.
