I have always preferred the option of an 8-team knockout tournament, just like the other sports have. Much more TV-friendly and no chance of a zany tie-breaker.

Keep in mind that when all 3 teams go 1-1, the current zany tie-breaker decided which one team advanced. In future, the zany tie-breaker would decide which two teams advance. Hence the addition of a semi-final round does not address the potential for a zany tie-breaker.

One thing not brought up yet is the potential for multi-platform broadcasts on SportsNet, i.e. on-line viewing and radio.
