Actually, Fly I judged Staal by watching him not just by his +/-. Often in juniors, a defensive guy can be paired with a lesser player and wind up with a horrible +/- for a couple of games (or more), and still be playing well. In Staal's case, it was somewhat the reverse. He did not play miserably, but he gave up the puck a few times and missed some checks and was poor along the boards. That was enough to make me think that he was not playinig well and still has not completely recovered from being sent down. When I spoke to him the previous Sunday in Toronto he was so dejected, he had tears in his eyes. I think we need to give him a few weeks and then see how he is doing.
