And yeah, because the $6 million they gave to Adams would have really locked in a dynamite offensive talent. Freaking .170 BJ Upton got almost $20 million a year.
1. You can't be holding your relievers back at the cost of the game. It's 2 months into the season. He made 4 pitches the night before. They need wins. You cannot be worried about this type of stuff if they want to make a run. He conceded the game by letting Horst stay in.
2. "We talked about Cody Ross internally," Amaro said. "We talked about Jerry Hairston, and we talked about [Nick] Swisher. But in our minds we felt if we signed those guys we wouldn't have been able to sign Adams."
I'm not saying it would've been some dynamite talent, but it certainly would've been better than the likes of Ben Revere and Delmon Young.
