Sure. But focusing your players as a collective is on the coach. Play any type of organized sports, if the team is not focused it's almost 100% the coach's fault. Give part of the blame to Sather too for having such a roster upheaval. Last year the players played for each other and were naturally motivated. This year Torts needed to have taken on a more proactive role in energizing them and keeping them focused. He didn't. Thus we looked how we looked. Uninspired.
