I think Nonis would wait until draft day to make this trade. If Monahan and Lindholm are gone by 7 then there's no need to make a trade.

I feel that EDM doesn't want more "down the road" players. They're tired of being at that position and could use an NHL ready player. Gardiner fits that bill perfectly. He's still very young but has had enough seasoning/exposure to make an impact right now. Plus he'd be joining his former college line mate Justin Schultz.

I feel the Oilers need defense more than offense and that's why I see this deal happening.

Either way I'd be happy if we simply kept Gardiner.
