Flames and Rangers Swap Prospects
2014 Trade Deadline Review

3rd Place in Eastern Conference
March 7, 2014

Hanowski joins the Rangers at the 2014 Trade Deadline.

With the 2013-2014 season ending soon, the New York Rangers wanted to add some depth to their AHL team since they are contending for a playoff spot. So, they went out during the 2014 trade deadline and traded for young right-winger, Ben Hanowski. They also received defenseman Mark Cundari. Although Cundari played in the NHL for the majority of the season, he also will be sent down to the Connecticut Whale. Since the Rangers received two talented players, they had to give away center prospect Alan Quine and left-wing prospect Ryan Bourque. “The players we traded away were not in our vision for the future”, said GM Flamesrule. “We wish them the best in Calgary.”

However, something that is a bit surprising is that GM Flamesrule did not go out and get players for the Rangers run, as they also are in the playoff run. When asked about this he said in reply: "I feel the team is good enough. If we don't make it or get out early in the playoffs, then you can blame me for the lack of movement at the deadline. Until then, you have no right for criticism."
