For example, if I were to build a $1000 machine for absolute maximum gaming performance I wouldn't even do a Haswell build. Probably drop it down to Ivy Bridge,and figure out a way to jam in there a $400 GPU. Like this:
You'd lose out on quite a bit of CPU power though. The midrange build with an XT gives you the best of both worlds without overpaying for an unnecessary PSU.
