With guys like Drouin available that could be PPG guys in the NHL, it's no wonder teams are looking at all options.
You take the best player at #1, period. Quebec, Ottawa, and the Pens have all taken three Centers with #1 or #2 overall picks three drafts in a row in the last 20 something years. All these teams won Cups or went to the finals, not just because they took all those Centers, but because they took the player they thought was the BPA, regardless of position. Ottawa stocked up on Centers, traded Yashin who many thought was their best Center for a guy named Chara, how did that work out? I remember many people saying the Pens were stupid for drafting Jordy Staal, well that worked out well.
BPA, almost always, it's rare a occasion when I would pick for need.
