Kris Beech can be as good as he wants to be. He is improving other areas of his game, and if he continues to do so, there is zero doubt in my mind that he can be a #1 or 2 centre in this league.
His skating is a little bit slow now, but I don't think this will be a problem for 2 reasons. #1, his vision, intelligence, and playmaking ability are good enough to compensate; and, #2, he has worked hard at trying to add muscle to his upper body, but has not concentrated on leg strength and endurence. As he matures physically, he will keep the weight on and increase the strenght and performance of his legs and skating.
He has to work on his consistency, but in terms of talent and ability, he can be a first line centre in the NHL.
Also, I would not mind seeing the Penguins try him on the wing. This would allow him to play a more physical and more offensive brand of hockey, and, IMO, he would not look out of place on the wing at all, and could end up being even better at that position. Just a thought worth trying.
