Minnesota Wild Re-Sign Stephane Veilleux [2 Years/$587,500 AAV/2-way]

The Minnesota Wild has re-signed one of its hard-nosed depth players. The club has inked forward Stephane Veilleux to a two-year, two-way contract.

The 31-year-old skated in two playoff contests for Minnesota this season. He notched eight points (3-5=8) and 45 penalty minutes (PIM) in 33 regular season games with the Houston Aeros in the American Hockey League (AHL) this season and added two assists and a plus-3 rating in three playoff games with Houston.
He was originally selected by Minnesota in the third-round (No. 93 overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

I always remember Veilleux for the summer of 2008. Veilleux wasn't willing to sign for what the Wild were offering him and his agent made some sort of suggestion that there were 29 teams who would take him in a heartbeat. So then-GM Doug Risebrough decided to call his bluff and put Veilleux on waivers right in the middle of July. He cleared, then quietly re-signed with the Wild some time later.

Dan O'Toole: "So if I have this right, only acceptable goal celebration in NHL is to put hands at your sides and then feel shame."
