This what a buyout looks like in 2018, for a 39 year old goalie:
2018-19 : 2.5 million
2019-20: 4.3 million
2020-21: 4.9 million
2021-22: 4.9 million
Then another 583,333 until 2026.
A buyout in less than 5 years would be even more atrocious.
