David Desharnais struggled on the third line this year, although many blame coach Therrien. Desharnais played the majority of this year on a line with Travis Moen and Colby Armstrong, with no powerplay time, a significant downgrade from Max Pacioretty and Erik Cole. Rugged center Jason Arnott, who previously failed a physical evaluation after agreeing to a contract with the Rangers, was brought in for his aggressive style and leadership qualities.

There were rumours that, during their playoff push, former Hart and Rocket Richard winner Corey Perry was offered to the Habs, in a deal that involved picks and prospects, but nothing came of it.

Montreal Canadiens Record: 39-23-2 (80 points) 1st in Northeast, 3rd in East, 5th in NHL
Leading Scorer: Brian Gionta - 21 Goals, 37 Assists, 58 Points
Hamilton Bulldogs Record: 42-11-3 (87 points) 1st in North, 1st in West, 1st in AHL
Leading Scorer: Patrick O'Sullivan - 18 Goals, 43 Assists, 61 Points

David [Desharnais] has spent his entire professional career in the organization, but we came to a mutual agreement that he needed a change in scenery. Hopefully this puts him back on the right track.

We know that this draft year is deep, and there's a lot of talent that we're interested in. With three 1sts and three 2nds, along with a plethora of later picks, we expect to be able to draft who we want.
