In my opinion, you are focusing on the wrong issue. Drewiske as our #7 d-man at $600K per year is a minor issue when it comes to our overall defensive play. Our #5 and #6 d-men are a far more important issue to be concerned with. They will be getting a lot more ice time than Drewiske and their play will have more of an impact on the results.

This is a solid signing which allows young players to develop for another year and allow Bergevin to consider his options for those higher up on the depth chart.
