Am I the only one who isn't completely surprised by his number and term? Puck moving defensemen get PAID on the open market. Sure it would be nice if we could develop our own puck movers, but it's not like those guys wouldn't cost a lot to retain either. I mean hell, Dan Boyle is making 6.6 million a year, Brian Campbell is at 7.1, and freakin Matt Carle makes 5.5. There's three examples off the top of my head that are worse. This is what happens in a league where there's a shortage of one type of player. They get overpaid, even if you want to consider this overpayment.

Let's at least the guy get through one year of the deal before we start declaring this the worst contract ever.
