Pavel Datsyuk shook hands on a three-year extension this morning, agreeing to stay with the Detroit Red Wings through 2016-17.

General manager Ken Holland told the Free Press the deal is for $22.5 million, with an annual salary cap hit of $7.5 million. That latter number is especially important, because it matches what team captain Henrik Zetterberg will make in actual salary each year from 2014-15 through 2016-17.

Glad those rumors of Datsyuk heading home to Russia didn't come to fruition. We get to watch him here for a few more years.
