Despite what the fans of Buffalo and Vancouver might be currently thinking, goaltending isn't the premium position on the market anymore. There are only couple of teams in the market every year. Top shelf guys are never traded unless their caphit outpaces their performance, and then who would want them anyway. Look at this summers market: Loungo, Halak, Ryan Miller, Mike Smith, with possibility of Hiller and Tim Thomas for clear cut starters available . Then you have backup guys like Emery, Khudobin, Theordore and Greiss. How many teams actually need a goaltender: Islanders, Edmonton, Phoenix, Calgary, and Philly. Everyone of those teams already have someone on the roster, except the cheapskates Coyotes and Islanders, available already to be a number one. It's a buyers market this summer.
