Nonsense. Special teams is where it's at in the new NHL, and Souray is the team's best special teams defenseman. This does not factor into your +/- statistic, which is inherently flawed as it is.
FYI: Many, many Selke winners have gone through -20-30 seasons. Does that mean they suddenly became bad defensively? No. It means they play quality minutes against the opposition's top players, and the top opponents score more than their defensive unit does; which is a
'phenomena', in most instances.
