Not sure if this is interesting/useful, or if I just re-invented the square wheel. Some players that jumped out to me on the blocked shots list are Andre Benoit, not exactly a know shot blocker and Kaberle/Vatanen(though probably just a sample size issue).

I have come to the conclusion that shot blocking is a more or less useless skill that is completely overrated. Shot blocking may be useful when blocking shot attempts from close in, but since a majority of blocked shots originate from the point, the data shows no value to blocking shots at a higher rate.
