The Blueshirts are not committed to re-signing impending free agent winger Ryan Clowe, who is believed to have sustained concussions on April 25 and May 10 previously having suffered on with San Jose before being traded to New York on April 2.

If the Rangers do re-sign Clowe, the Sharks will get their second-round pick in 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Move on from Clowe. He wants a long term deal. The Rangers lose their 5th in 2014 as part of the Clowe deal. They have FLA's 5th to replace that pick.

Richards is a cap recapture and performance issue. He isn't retiring before 2017. Four more years of him. He will be better next season because he can't be any worse. Is the "better" enough to justify the $6,666,667 cap hit? The Rangers need to move on from him too. He didn't play anywhere during the lockout. He didn't skate very much. That is the excuse for him. Richards is a big boy. Buy him out and move on. Clowe didn't play during the lockout. It showed. If the Rangers don't cut ties with Richards, they could have him on their cap until 2020 or beyond if they use a regular buyout on him in the future.
