Wow, haven't checked the board since this morning and then this thread pops up and is immediately on page 11. Love the activity on this Montreal board

That said, Plekanec is obviously a horse for us up front and we can't trade him without taking a step back. That said, does keeping Plekanec make us a contender? If Bergevin wants to improve the team long term, Plekanec could be the guy to trade. He has never been great in the playoffs and with him and Desharnais we'll always be small up the middle. I prefer him to DD, but Pleks has much more trade value.

I could see a scenario where Bergevin looks to trade Pleks for a pick in the 10-12 range to pick Horvat or Domi. This would force our remaining players to step up their game next year with a high-profile prospect expected to make the club in the 2014-15 season. It might be more of a long term approach than some would like at this point given our place in the standings this year, but it might not be the wrong approach.
