For Pulock to be a top pairing guys he needs to be an elite offensive defenseman. I think we can agree he will never be a shutdown guy. He has a big shot (and a big windup), but I don't really consider him as a guy with a lot of skill. If Morin never develops his offensive game from this day forward (which I'm confident he will) he has the ability to be a shutdown defenseman. He's got the elite size and reach, and the movement skills to do so. I said before his profile is similar to Tyler Myers up to this point in their careers. Chara is the dream scenario.

Morin would be the worst possible solution at 11. I'd rather walk away with a player than a lottery ticket. Our farm system is barren. We need production over a shot in the dark.
We need upside. Mid pairing/PP specialists are easier to find than top pairing guys. You've got to be willing to take the risk. You don't get upside without taking a risk.
I know it sounds like I'm advocating taking Morin, but my only point is in a draft like this you have to go for the upside. You don't want to look back at this draft and say 'X' is a nice player, but look at the other guys we could have had. I like Nurse, I'm neutral on Zadorov, I'm down on Ristolainen, I'm down on Pulock, I like Morrissey but I think he's a tiny reach at 11.
It will be interesting to see how things play out. I'm not going to speculate on who goes where. I'm just going to try an enjoy the draft as much as possible. The Flyer's success in the first round is as good as any so I will trust their judgement. I think they have a guy they are targeting and they usually get their guy. I would prefer a defenseman, but after Jones they all have their pros and cons. I we end up with Nichushkin I won't be mad at all. He can be as good offensively as anyone in this draft.
