a Smyth - Oates - Satan line would be a force.
Couple of things though.
1) Why plan around Adam Oates? He's got about 42 games left in him (plus 4-5 more if they Oilers get hot and make the P/O's).
2) Ulanov is 34 YO, and you know what you get when he's playing well - a decent 5/6th defensive d-man. In no way is he a replacement for Brewer.
3) Woywitka is probably at least 4-5 years from developing into the NHL'er he will become. He's not going to come into EDM next year and immediately be a top pairing d-man.
4) Satan makes $5M this year and next, and will be a UFA after that point. When was the last time the Oilers acquired a player making that kind of coin, and was due to be a UFA within a year? (All based on currect CBA, but I don't think that anyone expects the UFA age to increase).
