Safe as in, I deem it very unlikely he doesn't develop at the very least as a reliable 3rd pair guy. I expect him to be a second pair go-to guy. Also safe as in, not especially farther from the NHL than other D-men not named Jones. Safe as in, style translates fine to the NHL. Safe as in, got the genes to work with, so that he doesn't have to start with a hill to climb.
