You have to wonder if that's in order after years of Clarke's reign. On the one hand, they have a good young core to do it, and on the other, they have lots of overpriced junky (and some not so junky) veterans who can probably fetch something in a trade.
Hitchcock is good enough to become a coach anywhere in the league. It has been mentioned in this thread that perhaps Gretzky should sign him to coach in Phoenix, and that doesn't seem unreasonable at all. I cannot see him taking a consultant position at this time.
