Gags has lost a step and while he's not as good defensively as he used to be, he's still far and away better than McGinn, Rinaldo, or any other "prospect" or young winger we have in the system. Gags reads the play and understands the NHL game far better than any of those other options. He'd be a good stabilizing presence on Coots line and Coots would be alone as the only solid defensive player on the 3rd line. THAT is the reason he should be a serious consideration for resigning.
