Severe thunderstorm warning for
City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park issued

At 8:10 PM MDT meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms extending from Duffield to Dapp to 10 km southwest of Leduc to 20 km east of Bluffton. These thunderstorms are moving to the northeast at 40 KM/H and have the potential to produce large hail, strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.

Take cover, if threatening weather approaches, within a sturdy building, away from windows.

Strong wind gusts with large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods.

Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away.

Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.

Environment Canada continues to monitor the situation closely. Please continue to monitor your local media or Weatheradio for further updates. If you would like to report severe weather, you can call 1-800-239-0484 or send an email to

Updated or ended by 9:40 PM MDT.
