I think it might also be a case of ramping up the distance too quickly. After all the flooding I took a week off cause I was cleaning up or helping my dad every day. But with the race next week I have to get my distance up quickly. So I ran 4miles, 4 miles, 7 miles this week.

It could be the shoes. Try the next run in the ratty shoes to see if it still hurts.
