Why do I get the feeling this is a case of "what have you done for me lately." The Nuge is our most valuable player by a landslide going forward. The best hockey IQ of the bunch, best defensive ability, the most engaging physically of the young guns (an area Hall SHOULD lay claim to, but doesn't). Best passer, shifty skater, and an underrated shot that will be more prevalent with his repaired shoulder.

Hall is a great player, but his hockey IQ is questionable at best. Not a read and react player like the Nuge, and it shows with some of his bad turnovers in the offensive zone. Saw it in full display at the WC, and it didn't take long for his ass to get stapled to the bench.

That said, I think Eakins is going to challenge Hall this year to expand his physical game. If that happens, and he tightens up his poor decision making, it might be a closer race. But this has nothing to do with last year and everything to do with the next 10 years. That's why it's the Nuge for me.
