The Oilers defence was undeniably weak in front of Dubnyk last season. He did have more than a few mental lapses and bad goals.

Hopefully, the D play improves under Eakins.

Ference was a nice addition, but won't dramatically improve the D without other changes.

J. Schultz had a decent rookie season, but needs to strive to be more consistent. Smid also needs to work on his consistency. It would be great if Eakins' reputation for fostering young players helps these two improve their overall games. It would be nice to see Belov turn out to be a reliable 5/6 guy.

If all that comes together than this is the true test for Dubnyk. No excuses for the mental lapses.

I've had my doubts about Dubnyk, but would love to be proven wrong. Please prove me wrong Doobie!
