Hooking/tripping penalties are generally last resort penalties. If you're committing a lot of them, chances are you can't play hockey anymore at the level you are attempting to.
Thank-you, Clowe, Harnell and all the players we want have higher Penalty mins then Smyth or Horcoff. The fighting, roughing and those sorts of penalties are somewhat valuable.

The penalties Smyth and Horcoff took was because they can't keep up to the play.
