Well you can think that if you want. I think the real reason (sorry, it ain't dramatic) is that Perez would bring to the line a lot of the same things Sammy would. He's a perimeter player as well. Lats brings a crash and bang aspect that Carbo wanted to try out. There's nothing wrong in experimenting early in the season.
