Markov was healthy last year and top 5 scorer among dmen. And he's 34, not 44! He's a very smart guy and will most likely adjust his game as time goes by. He was gased last year, but it may be due to the fact that he didn't play much in the preceeding years. Used properly, he could be effective for the next 3-4 years.
If he maintains his level of play next year and the Habs offer him 2y @3M, he will understandably leave. And who will run our PP?
Excellent post! I expect even better results from Markov this year, since he will be able to focus on getting ready for a hockey season instead of just rehabbing his knee.
