I'm just saying you have to find the balance between potential and the ability to reach it when making a list like this. For me, the possibility of seeing Dumont in 5 years with the team is superior to Thrower's, and if Thrower makes it, I don't see him being a top 4 defenseman, especially the way he regressed this year.

And then you have a guy like Pateryn, which played less games then Dumont last year on a team that had many injured D, and is older. Do you see Pateryn ever being more then a 6 D, or a 7 D on a good team? I don't. But still, he has twice as much votes as Dumont.
I guess that's where opinion comes into play. I like Pateryn more (by the way, he's only a few months older, they're both 1990 birth years). I just don't think Dumont is a guy who sticks in the league. He's a 5'9 bottom 6 players. There aren't a whole lot of those in the league, and the ones who stuck around found their niche whether they excelled defensively or were faceoff specialists or were able to drop the gloves.

Anyway, like I said, it's all opinion, and if you ask me Dumont is a lesser prospect than a few guys still on the list.
