Good read up on Schenn and Reader.

Bill thinks that Read will get close to 3 million on his next cap hit, I actually IMO think it is slightly low. I was thinking around 3.5

He also mentions Schenn on a bridge deal as well at 2.5 for two years or 3 for 3 years. I think those numbers are pretty spot on from what we just saw Couts sign for.

EDIT: If Schenn does sign for 2.5 millio per year on a 2 year deal and Read for 3 million per year on a three year deal, we would have around 5 million to operate under this cap number next year. With the cap supposedly going up close to 70 million(I will use 69.4 because it is an even 5 million) to make the lineup

Hartnell(4.75)-Giroux(8.275)-Voracek(4.25)(just want to reiterate how much I love this deal) Total-17.275
Schenn(2.5)-Vinny(4.5)-Simmonds(3.975)Total-10.975
Talbot(1.75)Couts(1.75)-Read(3)-Total-6.5
Rinaldo(750K)-Laughton(1.106)-xxx(4th liner)-Total-2.531(Includes Rosehill)
Rosehill(675K)

Defense

Coburn(4.5)-Streit(5.25)-
Schenn(3.6)-Grossmann(3.5)
Pronger(4.9)-Gus(xxxx)
Lars(600K)

Total-22.35

Total hit-59.631

If it does go up to 69.5 million, we would have 10 million(with Pronger) to work with. I think next year we could see some movement. Either Coburn or Hartnell would be my best bests to move(would say Hartnell maybe first, especially next year) to make some room. I know Edmonton would be interested in both players, they need top 4 and also much needed grit in their top 6.

It will be an interesting summer if we do get Read and Schenner signed for those amounts. We would still need 2 goalies, two top 6 defenders(one more if Coburn is moved) and a 4th liner(easiest and cheapest to find.) Lots of work would go into that offseason I think.
