Why is he easily the better player than Thornton? I don't understand.

Joe Thornton has been a PPG player his entire career.

Who cares if he is younger? He isn't any more durable than Thornton and the Olympics isn't always about the youngest players. A good mix, but it's meaningless when comparing two players.

Who cares about faceoffs? Canada has a surplus of centers, and good ones at that. In almost any given faceoff there are two centers on the ice for Canada.

So you put a pure scorer on Joe's wing and use his strengths? The guy only scores 20 goals a year, but he is still, and always will be, one of the best passers in the league.
