Sure, but McGinn offers nothing that isn't available for <1m on the free agent market every year. Straka at least has an outside shot at being something a little more valuable.

It's nice to have a home grown bottom 6 guy, but you can find those players at any time. Even if Straka amounts to absolutely nothing (and that's very likely), I'd rather take a chance on a prospect like him than one like McGinn who is guaranteed to never be anything better than a bottom six presence.
