Meeting draft-year expectations is about as likely as OEL getting traded. Those expectations were based on his game translating from juniors to the NHL, and it didn't. His NHL future is based on the ability to adapt to a new gameplay style - and his family troubles made that overwhelmingly difficult for him.

Does he have a better chance to be a contributing NHLer? Sure. I hope he pulls it off. He could be really good. But his draft-year expectations literally involved potentially challenging Sidney Crosby. So I wouldn't go that high.
