The Rangers have too many forwards. 14 one way contracts counting Stepan. Kreider,Miller and Kristo are on entry level contracts too. Lindberg and Fasth are also on ELCs. Leave out those 2 guys. Kreider,Miller and Kristo have performance bonuses. The Rangers can use the bonus cushion to give them flexibility. If the bonuses hit,then those players are valuable contributors. If they don't hit,they don't hit. The Rangers could make room for the bonuses to count this year or roll them over to next season. The cap is going to $70M or maybe more. It won't be that much money to carry over. They aren't maxing out their bonuses. Those guys have upside. It beats watching some of the Rangers forwards provide nothing except give the top forwards a 30-45 second rest.
