According to Larry Brooks, in the*NY Post, the Rangers have not yet started negotiating contract extensions with Henrik Lundqvist, Dan Girardi or Ryan Callahan yet.It had been previously noted that the Rangers andCallahan had not yet started*negotiating but the Rangers have at*least met with the representatives for*Henrik Lundqvist.Brooks asked GM Glen Sather what the holdup has been and Sather responded “we will be talking.”He notes that while the Rangers do have until late June 2014 until their exclusive window to negotiate with these players will end, nothing good can come from waiting or trying to negotiate during the season.Girardi, Lundqvist and Callahan are the three longest tenured Rangers.Adam Rotter:*Hiring a new coach and having four key UFAs, one still unsigned, took precedent over starting extension talks with these players. As it gets closer to training camp, these talks will start to happen and the Rangers will look to get all three done before the season or shortly after.
