I feel like the new pad regulations would have a much bigger impact on larger goalies, who are used to -- between their size and the pads' -- not having to move much to make most of their saves.
Given that the size is proportional to your body, the taller goalies will lose less than a shorter goalie that traditionally has had a huge thigh rise.
Lundqvist is the poster child for this. His pads will be waaaaaay shorter than they were a few years ago with the 38" max. He reportedly had 34+4" pads previously. My guess is that he might be down to a 34+1" or 34+2". That's 4 to 6 less inches of pad in the 5 hole for him.
