You got to get down low (like a sitting position) and push out with your blades. Kinda like having your toe, knee and nose all inline. That way you have to most distance to glide. Plus make sure your arms are going out infront of you not out to the sides.
Yeah what she said but extend your stride as far as possible to get the the most out of it. also don't just bend your knees but consider bending your knees over your toes keeping them in line and keeping your back staight and shoulders back to keep your head up. you burn less energy that way. that little tip helped me tremendously. also note that the fast skaters never glide they are always skating hard!!! always keep your feet moving. never glide.
