I didn't mean it as he can't afford it financially. I meant it as he can't afford to take long suspensions if he wants to stay in the NHL.
Teams aren't going to want to sign an enforcer with a huge rap sheet. One incident and they will lose him for half the season or more. When the enforcers entire job is to fight and play tough, that's a pretty big risk to take. It's much safer to sign an enforcer with a clean record that isn't afraid of getting kicked out of the league if he crosses the line a little bit.
